In a recent episode of the New Gen Podcast, Blxckie opened up about one of the most favourite collaborations of his career. Known for his smooth blend of trap and melodic rap, Blxckie has become one of Durban’s biggest musical exports in recent years.

During the interview, he spoke about the artists who have influenced his journey and those he has shared the studio with. Among all the collaborations he has done, Blxckie revealed that his favourite feature artist is fellow Durban native, Nasty C.

Speaking on the podcast, Blxckie reflected on his early career and how much it meant to have someone from his hometown join him on one of his biggest songs. “I’m from Durban,” he began, setting the foundation for what would become a heartfelt recollection of his rise. He continued, “and it’s been a long time coming, it’s been a long time rapping tryna figure this rap thing out,” expressing the years of dedication and growth it took before he gained recognition in South Africa’s competitive hip-hop scene.

Blxckie went on to highlight how meaningful it was to collaborate with an artist who shared the same roots and passion. “And like to have a person from there that’s doing the same thing jump on one of my first hit songs,” he said, referring to one of his breakout hits Ye ×4, which featured Nasty C. The track not only showcased both artists’ lyrical chemistry but also symbolised a new generation of Durban talent rising to national prominence.

He concluded the quote by acknowledging the enduring success of that collaboration, saying, “and it’s still relevant till this day, still going crazy like yeah bro that’s probably my favourite one yeah.” For Blxckie, the song’s ongoing popularity stands as proof of its impact and the strength of their partnership.

Still, despite these many collaborations, Blxckie’s admiration for Nasty C remains central. Both artists share Durban roots and a drive to represent their city on a national and international scale. Through his words on the New Gen Podcast, Blxckie emphasized that the feature with Nasty C was not only a musical highlight but also a deeply personal milestone, a symbol of Durban’s growing influence and collaboration in South African hip-hop.
