Tony Dayimane has released the visualiser for “Where Would I Be,” the fifth track from his newly released EP, Girls & MP3’s. The project officially dropped on 13 February, with the visual rollout following shortly after.

Girls & MP3’s marks a new chapter in Tony Dayimane’s catalogue, presenting a body of work that explores relationships, personal growth and self-examination. “Where Would I Be” stands out as a reflective entry on the EP, with the rapper using the track to unpack patterns from his past relationships.

In a message shared alongside the visualiser, Tony Dayimane detailed the inspiration behind the song. He explained that the verse addresses “past behaviour by myself… narcissistic behaviour, being the prize, being the guy who wants to run the show in a relationship.” He clarified that while he was “never controlling,” he was “always wanting to be in control of every aspect of my life while knowing it’s impossible.”

The rapper further described how the need for control shaped his relationships. According to him, a recurring theme was choosing to end relationships at the slightest sign of discomfort. He admitted to “opting to break up at any minor inconvenience” and even ending relationships if he felt he loved his partner more than they loved him. He added that, at times, he would break up “to see if they care,” explaining that the driving force behind these actions was to “always be in control of my emotions.”

Tony Dayimane also acknowledged the double standards that influenced his actions. He noted that some of the behaviour he displayed would not have been acceptable had the roles been reversed. Reflecting on the consequences, he stated that this pattern “has cost me all the relationships I’ve ever been in,” revealing that he often ended relationships when partners failed to meet standards he had set internally without communicating them.

The visualiser for “Where Would I Be” complements the song’s introspective tone, placing focus on the lyrics and emotional weight of the verse. Through the track, Tony Dayimane documents a period of self-reflection, sharing that he has since taken time to reassess his actions. He described the process as looking at himself from the outside and recognising the need for change.

With the EP now available and visuals beginning to roll out, Tony Dayimane continues to expand on the themes introduced in Girls & MP3’s, offering listeners both music and context behind the stories he tells.
