Responding to a query about Zoocci’s absence from his latest project, The Big Hash offered a candid statement, expressing that the support he extends to Zoocci is not always returned.
The interaction took place on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the release of “WHAT!” the first single from The Big Hash’s upcoming mixtape PRESS HASH VOL. 1.
A fan responded to a post by The Big Hash by asking, “I thought your project was gonna get curated by Zoocci, what happened?” The Big Hash replied directly, offering insight into what appears to be a strained personal and professional relationship between the two.
In his response, Hash wrote: “I always showed up for him when he needed me. When it’s my turn, I gotta beg. It’s been happening for years now.” He continued by addressing public narratives that have emerged from Zoocci in the past: “Then he’ll hop on a live & tell people that I broke his heart. Bro’s so damn talented, but waiting on him/chasing after him? Nah. I’m not entitled, I’m just tired.”
The two artists have previously collaborated on multiple records and were often seen as part of the same creative circle within South Africa’s hip-hop landscape. However, Hash’s comments indicate that behind the scenes, their dynamic may have been less collaborative than it appeared publicly.
