Following The Big Hash’s public remarks regarding his relationship with Zoocci Coke Dope, the acclaimed producer and artist took to Instagram Stories to share a cryptic but reflective message on his decade-long career.
While Zoocci did not directly mention The Big Hash or confirm the post was a response to the situation, the timing of the message has drawn attention from fans and observers within the South African hip-hop community.
Zoocci opened his Instagram Story with a well-known quote from The Dark Knight film:
“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
He followed this by writing:
“2-5 studio sessions almost weekly for 10 years been the perfect way to learn you can’t please everybody. i done went from Pro to Kupa and almost everyone inbetween, real embodiment of generational. 5-10 people can come out unsatisfied in that 10 years and they’ll work hard to make your legacy.”
The post appears to reflect on the pressures of maintaining relationships and reputation in a highly collaborative and competitive music industry. Zoocci, known for his consistent work with numerous artists across generations, emphasizes the intensity of his studio commitments referencing up to five sessions per week over a 10-year span. He also acknowledges that despite sustained efforts, some collaborators may still leave with dissatisfaction.
This statement arrives shortly after The Big Hash responded to a fan question on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he addressed Zoocci’s absence from his latest project. In his response, Hash stated:
“I always showed up for him when he needed me. When it’s my turn, I gotta beg. It’s been happening for years now.”
He further added:
“Then he’ll hop on a live & tell people that I broke his heart. Bro’s so damn talented, but waiting on him/chasing after him? Nah. I’m not entitled, I’m just tired.”
The pair had previously collaborated on several records and were viewed as part of the same creative collective within South African hip-hop. However, The Big Hash’s comments suggested ongoing frustrations with what he described as an imbalanced dynamic.
As of now, Zoocci Coke Dope has not issued a direct response to The Big Hash’s statements. His recent Instagram Story remains open to interpretation, and neither party has confirmed whether any further communication has taken place privately.
