In a recent interview with Vogue, GRAMMY award-winning sensation, Tyla got ready for the ceremony while discussing her GRAMMY nomination, dreaming about and praying for the success of her hit single, ‘Water’, the South African music culture and more.
Tyla expressed her disbelief after finding out she had been nominated for the Grammy Awards under the Best African Music Performance catergory for ‘Water’.
“I didn’t believe it honestly. It literally didn’t feel like it was possible especially so soon…”
Tyla prides herself in being South African. She went on to discuss her dream coming into fruition, as well as the importance of representing and embracing South Africa.
“Eversince I was small I dreamt about this type of life. Bringing more attention back home to our culture, our music, and our dancing. Everything that is South African so I’m just happy that people are embracing it.”
When talking about the single that changed her life, ‘Water’, Tyla shared a backstory on how she dreamt about the success of the hit song before releasing it. She explained that in her dream, she saw Spotify streams for the single sky-rocketing and prayed about it becoming a reality thereafter.
“Something that was unique was I had a dream that the song was gonna blow up before I even dropped the song, which is crazy.”
