Congratulations are in order for global phenomenon, Tyla who won her first Grammy award under the Best African Music Performance catergory for her sensational hit, 2023’s ‘Water’.
Tyla triumphed on stage as she accepted her award, and expressed her gratitude to God, her family and team.
“WHAT THE HECK!”, she exclaimed in disbelief. “Oh my gosh guys this is crazy. I never thought I’d say I won a Grammy at 22 years old.”
“Last year God decided to change my whole life, so thank you so much to God, thank you to my team, my family….”

Tyla took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to triumph over her win. "AFRICA! WE GOT ONE", she tweeted.
In an interview with City National Bank, Tyla shared her excitement for the win.
“I’m just so excited. It’s the first time this category has been introduced so it just means so much more you know? Being the first winner for this catergory”, Tyla stated.
Tyla made her debut entry at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards under the Best African Music Performance catergory alongside Asake, Olamide, Davido, Burns Boy, Musa Keys and Ayra Starr.
The award ceremony was aired live at Los Angeles Crypto.com Arena on Sunday evening.
