Podcaster, writer and academic Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh recently sat down with fellow podcaster Penuel The Black Pen for an episode of ‘The Konvo Show’.
In their long conversation, they spoke about the late AKA, who was Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh’s childhood friend. The two were part of the Hip-Hop group Entity in the 2000s.
During the episode, Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh reflects on his relationship with AKA, citing meeting in school, forming Entity and eventually growing apart as AKA’s solo career took off.
“When I spoke about him before, there was a certain amount of resentment because I felt like, ‘you became famous and then forgot about us.’ But I realise that was very short-sighted of me,” Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh says.
He mentions he regrets not reaching out to chat to AKA. “I wish we had a chance to sit down for the last time and just talk and remember all things,” he says.
