Travel back in time to 1998 and get to be a fly on the wall as legendary Kwaito group TKZee work on some songs from their classic album ‘Halloween’.
The footage shows the trio of Kabelo Mabalane, Zwai Bala, and the late Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala create songs from the 'Palafala' album such as their explosive single ‘Masimbela’ which was a diss track to another Kwaito icon M’Du Masilela (a story for another day).
The 16-minute-long clip is the first episode of a new series by O-XPC Network in association with Pitcher7 Films and OliKha Media. ‘The Creative Process - Captured Moments Series’ is a Sello Nahshon Khaoli Production.
Footage for the episode, according to the description on YouTube, was filmed at YFM's first headquarters in Bertrums, Joburg, and in Auckland Park where TKZee's Guz Kitchen Studios was based at the time.
This type of content is golden as the culture of documenting artists wasn’t as prevalent as it is today in South Africa.
