Nadia Nakai penned a heartfelt tribute single to her late partner, Hip-Hop giant, AKA titled ‘Never Leave’. The song features fast-rising musician, Kashcpt.
Nadia Nakai wears her heart on her sleeve and opens up in this moving tribute about the gut-wrenching sadness and pain endured following the passing of AKA. She pours her heart out and speaks on the unbearable grief she has experienced since his untimely passing. She also reminisces on their wholesome relationship dynamic and emphasises how deeply she yearns for his presence.
In an exclusive interview with Slikour OnLife, Nadia shared the sentimental meaning behind the pendant which belonged to AKA that she is seen holding on the song’s cover art.
“He used to brag about how he's never going to take off this pendant, this cross, and the day he passed he took it off. And now I wear it everyday and I just wish he had kept it on, maybe it would’ve protected him..”, she said.
She also shared the reason behind collaborating with Kashcpt on ‘Never Leave’.
“While I was in studio with him, he reminded me of what I think Kiernan would’ve been when he started making music at the beginning of his musical career.”
Last year, Nadia Nakai announced that she is currently working on a tribute EP for AKA. She hinted that she will be dropping the project on a sentimental date.
