Nadia Nakai revealed she is working on an AKA tribute EP yesterday during a luncheon at La Parada in Parkmore, where she was officially welcomed to the Ziiki Media family, her new music distributor and production service provider.
Ziiki Media, a music aggregator, distributor and production house, has forged partnerships across Africa, India and South East Asia. Nadia Nakai joins talented artists such as Diamond Platinumz, Sarkodie, DJ Jaivane to name a few on the company’s roster.
"We are delighted to welcome Nadia Nakai to the Ziiki Media family," said Ria, the Executive Director at Ziiki Media. "Her talent and passion for music align perfectly with our commitment to creativity and quality. We believe that her unique voice and perspective will contribute significantly to our mission of driving positive change through entertainment."
Nadia has already released her latest single ‘Back In’ with Ziiki Media and is set to release a new single with the rising rapper, Sauwcy as well as an EP and an album.
The rapper is exploring sounds like Afro-Pop/House and Afro-Tech and Drill to name a few. “This is definitely a new Nadia, with a new team. Working on a whole new different spectrum,” Nadia said.
“Hip-Hop will always be what I love and it's what literally made me who I am, but every artist grows musically, their sound changes and with the year that I’ve had, my sound has definitely changed to be more spiritual, tribal and ancestral.”
Bragga also mentioned she’s been working on a tribute EP for AKA who she was dating by the time of his passing in February. Nadia Nakai appeared on AKA’s last album ‘Mass Country’ in the steamy song ‘Dangerous’ which also features Blxckie. In not so many words, Nadia also expressed her grieving process which included creating music as she would together with AKA when he was alive.
“The topic matter has been difficult for me to tap into the emotional side of things, because for me, I’ve always been the type of artist that makes music for the club, for the bad bitches, for the champagne poppers. When you do hear the project, it’s gonna sound very different from what you expected from Nadia Nakai the Bragga. I’ve learnt a lot this year when it comes to music and being an artist.”
The first song on the EP features Shekhinah and is produced by Zakes Bantwini. “So that’s the energy I’m trying to move in, it’s more like house, dance but the way it sounds, it sounds ancestral and spiritual.”
“I will be dropping on a sentimental date, so it’s quite soon. That is the project I’ve been putting my all into,” Nadia said.
Nadia has other business ventures that she is tapping into; she has a new reality show coming up, her Bragga App launched last month, a make-up range and T-shirts are also coming.
