Stogie T has penned a heartfelt tribute freestyle to South African Hip-Hop giant, AKA titled ‘Survivors Guilt’.
Stogie T refers to the late rapper as his “little brother” throughout the song as he goes on to speak on his untimely passing and having survivor’s guilt on his conscience.
He begins the freestyle with a bible quote which states, “Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10”.
The visuals showcase clips of Stogie T and AKA’s iconic Back To The City performance from 2016 alongside some stand-alone visuals of AKA, as well as of late rapper, Riky Rick of which he references throughout the song. Riky Rick passed away on February 23rd, 2022 and AKA passed almost a year later on the 10th of February this year.
AKA and Stogie T’s relationship dates back to the early 2010s; Stogie T has appeared on all of AKA’s albums except ‘Mass Country’.
The ‘Survivors Guilt’ freestyle is done over the beat to Kanye West’s ‘Big Brother’ where he talks about people not being given their flowers while they can still smell them. Stogie T raps, “People never get to put their flowers into a vase.”
Stogie T also pays tribute to Hip-Hop/Amapiano superstar, Costa Titch, and AKA’s former manager and long-time friend, Tibz.
Stogie T concludes the freestyle by highlighting the importance of supporting one another and living life with no regrets.
