Following the conversations around the origin and ownership of Amapiano, DJ Maphorisa released a 9-minute video addressing South Africans on what they can learn from Nigerians. He delved into the wave of Amapiano and highlighted the importance of unity amongst Africans.
Maphorisa spoke on his perspective on the Nigerian community and background and compared it to how South Africans move.
“Nigerian people move as a community; they move with the culture and that’s what’s missing with South African artists. We only moving with the sound only. They’re stronger with everything because they move with their community.”
DJ Maphorisa pleads with South Africans to refrain from pointing fingers and blaming one another. He encourages that they learn from Nigerians and collaborate with them instead.
