RnB is definitely on the rise in South Africa as we see an increase in talent within the genre. Today I bring you the gifted, 'Bono Paige' as she released her Debut album 'Caution Tape'.
I first heard of her through a post that Theo made and man those were times as he put me on numerous talented artists that will without a doubt take the world by storm with their voices. I will not forget that day as I wanted to do the build up article for the project but crazy thing was that I never heard her music until that day.
I sat down and decided to give her music a listen and I was awed by how she plays around with her voice. I love how she is able to harmonise her voice in numerous pitches and that is a beautiful thing to witness as each note allows the story she is telling to have more depth. I then became more excited for the album.
At first I didn't think I would have the needed time to jam to it as I was sitting on numerous content and meetings during the course of the day but by the grace of music her tape found its way to my heart as I was on YouTube and something told me focus on the project, give it a listen and understand what she is trying to say as you will be moved.
Without a doubt I was taken by the breath as each song tells a story of its own from her falling deeply in love to her getting heartbroken to an extent she has moved on but feelings being feelings she finds herself thinking about that individuals. Each song spoke to me as her RnB is more modern. It is like a mixture of SZA and HER type sound as her beat selection is so amazing. The outro already had me asking for more as it reminded me of a '6lack' single. She is definitely talented and is the future of South African RnB. I cannot wait to see her breakout as I believe it will be one of the biggest amongst many other RnB artists in SA. She is going to do a lot for the industry and hope she continues to pave the way for many more generations as her music speaks deeper than what the heart can truly feel.
