I have been a casual listener for Wolffisdead for some time and I started listening to Brendon Tayler at the beginning of this year and I have always felt like it was only natural for them to make a joint tape seeing as they are frequent collaborators. I was really impressed with the imagery of Imaginary Friends and I haven't spent enough time with it to see if there is a deeper meaning behind the project but from my first couple of listens, this is perhaps one of the most seamless collaborations I have heard this year. The project is unapologetically trap with every song featuring aggressive bass lines that see Wolffisdead and Brendon Tayler go back and forth trading verses filled with clever punchlines. Their delivery throughout the project feels like it's freestyled or punched in at the very least. Despite being seen as an easy sound to reproduce, it is actually a very easy sound to get wrong and I commend both of them for delivering such a clean execution of the sub-genre.
