Talented Singer and Songwriter @muano__ Drops 'Ace of Spades' EP

By @Lesiba on 12/03/2021 in Projects You Should Hear

Ace of spades is a 5 track EP by Muano based on the 5 stages of a breakup. Using metaphors and hidden messages- the songs all have a story and a meaning. The arrangement of the songs are a step by step the 5 stages of a break up. He has named the EP Ace of spades referring to a well-known card game called crazy 8. The Ace of spades in this card game is used to block the joker card or any 2’s (rules differ depending on who you play it with). The meaning behind this, is that no matter what cards life has dealt you , no matter the circumstances, you can overcome and conquer because you always have an ace of spade up your

sleeve. You will encounter a few J’s in life , get turned down, sent back to the drawing board. Sometimes you will be skipped, everyone around you will be getting opportunities and you feel like you’ve been skipped. Jokers are the pains and heartaches we go through , that may take you a few steps back or even break your hope. Life continuously hands us jokers and some people are dealt a better hand with their own jokers. Jokers can also be blessings to get ahead in life, it’s all dependent on the person who has the card, they can use it for good or bad and that’s just how life is, everyone is dealt a different hand.. Anyone can win at crazy 8, it’s not about who has the most jokers or who has the most Aces, it’s about how you use your cards wisely to overcome and beat the odds.

The first song is titled “Love back”. The first stage of a breakup is anger, confusion and guilt. Feeling like you’ve wasted your love or time on someone and wishing you can get that love back. Trying to find the pieces and where it went wrong, playing the whole relationship back trying to see what went wrong. The second song is titled “Lonely moon”. This stage is the lonely stage, when you’ve isolated and all the noise has settled, life slows down and you are now finding your own rhythm back into society. You start your journey of finding yourself again. There is comfort and growth in loneliness. The third song is called “off the shore”. This is the stage where you feel that you have lost a safety net which was one provided by the person you’ve lost. The realisation that the security and comfort of always having someone is now gone.

The Fourth song is Titled “ Selling free rock” The name is based off the sonics of the song with all the rock elements in it. This is the stage where you have taken the time to know yourself and you’ve accepted who you are and not what you think you should be. You now know your flaws and the mistakes you’ve made. Taking accountability. You embrace your imperfections and fears. This is a very crucial stage, this is where you have made peace and you forgive yourself and you are starting to let go and let it be. The fifth song is titled “Just believe” in the midst of it all, the only way you got through all the stages is you had to believe that it will get better, you are stronger, you’ve made it this far and that’s proof that you can always overcome any challenge life throws at you because you’ll always have an ace of spades.
