@KHENLONGLEE Sets The Mood With 'The Burning One' EP

KhenLongLee’s 'The Burning One' EP is my introduction to her music and an impression she has made on me. I found that ‘The Burning One’ sits in the pocket of trap soul and KhenLongLee flexes her ability to come up with melodies that compliment the production throughout the EP. 

I particularly enjoyed how the sound of the EP is designed. It has a very focused sound and aesthetic. I think the manner in which her vocals are presented is pretty interesting. There are times where I can’t exactly hear what she is saying and I don’t know if this was an intentional part on her end but it works for the sound that she went with. I’m going to assume it was a stylistic decision as it compliments the dark and ‘airy’ aesthetic of the EP. Personally, this style of writing appeals to me because I want to ‘feel’ what you are saying more than ‘hear’ what you are saying. On the outside looking in, this sort of style may seem easy but I assure you it isn’t because there is no margin of error when it comes to the melodies you go with and KhenLongLee managed to deliver on that front.
