First Impressions of @EvidaOfficial's 'Mirror for a Miracle' Album

By @Lesiba on 11/05/2021 in Projects You Should Hear

I have been waiting for Evida to release this album for a while and I can honestly say that he met my expectations. If there were more Pop artists like Evida then I would be a 'Pop head'. I don't know if that's a thing but in case it becomes a thing, you heard it here first:). When I think of Evida, the word 'artist' comes to mind because he really understands how to construct a song. It's almost like he knows what every song needs. I have never listened to Evida and thought to myself ' I think he has a verse or two in him' but throughout 'Mirror For A Miracle' he keeps the listener exactly where he wants them by switching between singing and rapping. Please let's be clear - rapping, not 'sing rapping'. On most occasions, Evida exclusively sticks to singing when he has someone who can handle the rapper duties like he did on 'Demons' ft Luna Florentino.

It's tough for me to pick my favourite song on this album because it really would depend on my mood. I love how Evida managed to incorporate different sounds from different regions into his own sound. The song 'Mirror for a Miracle' has elements that you would hear in amapiano but it still feels like it belongs in this album and more importantly, it feels like it has that 'Evida touch' rather than him trying to do a Pop version of an amapiano song. I think that's what I enjoy most about Evida's music. He incorporates different genres and recreates them in his own way. I'm sure you've heard the saying 'steal like an artist'. If you're an artist, steal like Evida. Stream 'Mirror for a Miracle' below.
