@TumiMolekane Discusses Becoming Stogie T, Zodwa Wabantu & Writing From Provocation With @uHelenH

By @Nokulunga_Maqubela on 07/15/2019 in Watch

Back with the final part of Helen Herimbi's chat with Stogie T, and the last episode of I(m)bali Live. Closing it off with the "Poster Boy for Re-invention," he further expands on the name change, how it came about, and people's reaction to it.

"That's why I wasn't worried about being Stogie T. Because what you know of me is what I give you. And then you're gonna come back and tell me you know more about me? But I gave you the thing..." Tumi becoming Stogie T was not well received in the hip hop circles, especially with the fans. Between "dumbing it down" or "going soft," he was labelled. But that was until he dropped music that people came back and said "oh, he's still rapping." On his chat with Helen, Stogie explains how he's not about who he was back them anymore and believing in the art of artistic death and being reborn, this being the same thing he has undergone. He breaks down the eras and tributes "Hello Kitty" to being the stepping stone into the Stogie T era. Watch the rest of the chat below:
