We don't always get to every drop in SA's illustrious music industry, but the beauty of music is that it's everlasting. This afternoon, we revisited a March 2019 drop by G.C. For those that aren't already familiar with G.C.'s work, his big break came thanks to a collaboration with the late great, HHP, for "Leloko la Lekoko". Since the 2007 drop, the rapper has performed in various countries, one of which is the United States for Austin's annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference.
At the 2019 SXSW Conference, G.C. debuted his fifth EP, Nostalgia. The 7-track project is an enjoyable listen overall. On occasion, hyper-personal subject matter can make a project difficult to listen to; however, for G.C. his blend of beats and prose make his brand of storytelling an enjoyable listen. Save for, what sounds like an interlude by, Imani, G.C. has no features on Nostalgia. His work, while it may not be as widely known he admits, garners loyal listenership. If you haven't heard of this artist before, for a smooth introduction to his style of rhythm and poetry, take a listen to Nostalgia below!
