The word “content” comes with dozens of definitions. From the state of peaceful happiness, to the contents of something. But today, we focus on what the business dictionary defines as the “essence of a communicated message or discourse, as comprehended or received by its intended audience.” The keyword being “message.” 

Two weeks ago, K.O, debuted his single, “Supa Dupa,” along with its visuals. Playing around with animation, the “Supa Dupa” music video is not just humorous and colourful, but it carries a message too. Apart from videos that lack form or meaning, what hardly happens in the South African music scene is artists breaking down their work. However, through his “Vokals” series, K.O invites us into his creative process. From the first to the last scene, the Skhanda God unpacks the idea, message, and creative concept behind the video. In his analysis, he explains how the record he runs on in the video symbolises the cycle of life, how he overcame his worst fear and more.
