Nas has been teasing plans of releasing some sort of visual this week causing fans to believe he would be dropping a new music video soon. The Queens Bridge emcee opts to give fans more than they expected with a short film in support of his project Nasir titled the same.
Nas taps film director Rohan Blair Mangat to give us a 16 minute visual that is primarily focused on highlighting issues that are currently faced by the African American community in the United States. He uses vocals from each of the 7 songs on the project to convey his visual message, frequently trumping on police brutality with songs like Cops Shot The Kid playing in the background. Nas is an artist that has been known to be a conscious rapper for most of his rap career, frequently using his platform to raise awareness of social ills and this short film is an unapologetic tribute to that.
