It's been a grim, yet encouraging past two weeks in SA hip hop with the passing of the legendary Linda "PRO" Mkhize two weeks ago. Upon hearing the news, the hip hop community quickly huddled together to make sure they give him a deserving send off. They formed a +100 member WhatsApp group to put their resources and time together to help organise his memorial service, and ultimately the #DankieSanConcert which was a tribute to the rap icon.
Words cannot adequately encapsulate the remarkable unity and team work the hip hop, and music, community at large has shown in putting together a sold out concert within a space of two weeks. Multiple generations of the industry came together to bring their own experiences, skill, and talents to execute a seamless show - it's such a dream. With the concert having been hosted yesterday, we ask you as Onlifers, do you think we will ever see unity like this again?
