Okmalumkoolkat shares the full film for his hit single Amalobolo from which his music video for the song was taken from. The film tells the tale of an ordinary Zulu boy who falls in love with a girl who's not really in his "league" per se.
Princess Zulu plays the lead role of Noluthando, Smanga's (Okmalumkoolkat) love, as their story blossoms on screen. We get to see the different walks of life they come from when we see each of them in their homes where Smanga's mother is stitching his jacket, while on the other hand Nolu and her family are sitting comfortably as she and her sister complain about their Wi-Fi connection. That scene in the music video where Nolu's dad comes to confront Smanga while they are at groove makes better sense with the rest of the story's backdrop. Nolifa Majozi really outdid the story writing on this short film as it depicts the lives of many a South African and addresses the class issues and inequalities of society that come to play where "love" is concerned. We love uMalums for his never ending mission to "faka isintu estylini." We are proud.
