The State Of The Nation Address was held last week where members of parliament gave their views on the future of South Africa following Jacob Zuma's resignation as president. Many of the speakers quoted famous lyrics from popular writers, for instance, President Cyril Ramaphosa quoted the late Hugh Masekela's Thuma Mina which was seen as a consolidator among people of South Africa. This probably urged the country's Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba aka Gigabyte to tap into his creative juices and follow suit. In the middle of his budget speech and his admission of being addicted to Candy Crush, Gigabyte went ahead and quoted Kendrick Lamar's Alright saying, "As urban poet, Kendrick Lamar says, 'we gon' be right, we gon be alright.'"

Of course, Twitter went buck wild after that. But I must say that by how well the Rand is doing against the Dollar and Pound right now, Gigabyte has a point. Check out the social media reactions below.

Malusi Gigaba embarrassed himself trying to quote Kendrick Lamar. So awkward to watch. There’s no price for guessing who in his team came up with that dumb idea. #BudgetSpeech2018
