@palmtree_za - Paradise In You EP

By @Lenoir on 02/15/2018 in Projects You Should Hear

Since releasing their well-received Tropical Reign project mid-2017, Durban's own Palmtree Paradise had gone MIA for while, only releasing some loose singles and videos here and there. Well, it looks like they took some time off to reflect on their experiences in and outside the music which is what birthed the making of their latest offering, the Paradise In You EP.

Seeing that it is love month, the group decided it was best to deliver some heartfelt music and dig deep into their emotions to pour out into these five new songs. They describe the project as, "an exploration of love in its different forms inspired by the challenges and triumphs faced individually and as a collective." All five tracks have a different story, somewhat similar although told differently. While the opening track does speak about commitment, the guys take an offramp where they talk about their experiences as side guys. Get By sounds like a sequel to SNP (Side N%$#@ Problems) more than anything where they basically talk about being swindled by the girls they loved - eish.

The Unbelievable remix happens to be the only other song with features apart from SNP and is more upbeat than most of the tracks on the EP. They bask in their unimaginable and ever-blooming successes before they go on to talk about needing a lady who can get her own money. The song arrangement here is really dope and I dig the storytelling. Apart from planning on releasing an album soon, Palmtree Paradise plans to follow up with some solo work to keep fans waiting - this sounds like an idea.
