All hail the Armenian wordsmith! In what has been a relentless year of weekly music drops, R-Mean doesn't even seem to lose steam as the Mean Mondays series comes to a close. This is the 51st of 52 instalments from him this year and he's sounding as fresh as when I heard him doing Eminem and Nas covers back in 2016. These moments are the kind I use to thank the music gods for introducing me to a new artist, I have been in love ever since.
On The Come Up R-Mean gets all boom bap (like he inherently is) to toast to the come up. He pays homage to his day ones, remembers his difficult times while starting out, and sends gratitude for how far he's come. He's sounding mad lethal as he raps with deep focus about the tribulations of being in the game, people who've starved with him, as well as fake people who will never see glory 'cause of their sideways behaviour. The most consistent thing about R-Mean is his earnest nature and undying passion. With every new track you can clearly feel his love for this music thing and The Come Up sums all that up quite well. I don't know what my life is going to be like without the Mean Mondays.
