The importance of this track will probably go over many people's heads but it is so essential. Very rarely do you hear artists blatantly speak on depression and suicide, which is why Logic's suicide line song became such a big deal the world over.
Megmafia takes it upon herself to channel the pain of many a suicidal person out there. She puts the unfiltered thoughts of wanting to "off" yourself on record just as they are. She doesn't sugarcoat it with painted metaphors 'cause even then no one gets it. You can completely miss it on the first listen but if you backtrack and pay attention you are immediately gripped by the first words uttered on the song, "I tried to kill myself." I think I could write a book about the dire need of awareness about mental illness, especially in the art faculty, but that's a discussion that requires actual interest and open understanding. Kudos to you Megmafia for tackling such a crippling, complex, and taboo subject in your music. Those who need it will hear it. Goosebump music!
