Music visionary Zakes Bantwini has unveiled the final lineup for Mayonie Open Air: The Evolution of Afrohouse, taking place on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg.

Presented by Mayonie Productions, the festival celebrates the heartbeat of African electronic music, bringing together pioneers, innovators, and the next wave of Afrohouse and Afrotech talent.

The curated lineup features Liquideep, DJ Kent, Msaki, Mörda, Caiiro, Da Capo, Enoo Napa, Maline Aura, Drega, BlaqRhythm, Skye Wanda, TekniQ, BokkieUlt, Marco Pex, Da Africa Deep, Samba, and Zakes Bantwini himself.

This curation wasn’t just about assembling big names but about mapping the journey of a genre that has transcended borders. Each artist represents a distinct era and influence in the evolution of Afrohouse: from the soulful roots of Liquideep to the futuristic textures of Da Capo, the spiritual vocals of Msaki, and the innovative sounds of rising musicians like Maline Aura and producers like Drega.

Mbali Zuma, Show Runner for Mayonie Open Air, explains:

“We wanted the lineup to feel like a conversation between generations , the legends who defined the sound and the new creators who are reimagining it. Afrohouse has always been about community, rhythm, and healing, and this lineup captures that full circle moment.”

Lucky Mbeta, A&R at Mayonie Productions, adds:

“When we looked at the lineup, we didn’t just think of popularity, we thought of influence. Every artist on this bill contributes something unique to the ecosystem of Afrohouse and Afrotech. It’s a showcase of where the genre has been and where it’s going.”

For Mayonie’s breakthrough artists, being part of this historic lineup is deeply personal. Maline Aura, whose ethereal voice has been described as the “new spirit of Afrohouse,” shares:

“To share the stage with artists I grew up listening to and admiring is surreal. It’s a reminder that the work we’re doing is part of something bigger. I truly believe that we’re carrying forward a legacy.”

Drega, known for his percussive Afrotech sound, echoes that sentiment:

“Zakes and the Mayonie team are giving new artists a real platform, not just a slot. To perform alongside these icons means our sound is being recognised, and that’s powerful.”

For Zakes Bantwini, Mayonie Open Air is more than a festival, it’s an artistic statement. It reinforces his vision to position Mayonie Productions as Africa’s leading record label championing Afrotech and Afrohouse artists, creating space for collaboration, mentorship, and cultural exchange.

“Mayonie Open Air is the embodiment of our philosophy, that Africa’s sound is global, its roots are deep, and its future is limitless,” says Zakes.

Fans can expect an immersive experience of music, art, and culture , all set against the historic backdrop of Constitution Hill, a space symbolizing freedom, resilience, and creativity.
