Usimamane Links Up With American Rapper Loe Shimmy in Studio for A Potential Collab

Usimamane recently shared a recording studio clip showing him working with American rapper Loe Shimmy and producer Mashbeatz. The video was posted to Usimamane’s Instagram with the caption “1/5,” suggesting it may be part of a series. This comes amid Loe Shimmy’s visit to South Africa, where he has been spending time with Usimamane and collaborating in person.

Usimamane has become one of South Africa’s leading hip‑hop artists. He gained significant attention with his 2024 single Cheque, which achieved major streaming success locally. His debut album, 20th: Days Before Maud, released in 2024, set records for second‑day streaming on local platforms and included standout tracks such as Uvalo. In 2026, following the release of his recent project G-Wagon Music: Baby Tai, Usimamane was featured on Apple Music’s Rap Life Africa series, highlighting his continued influence in the South African hip‑hop scene.

This is not Usimamane’s first international collaboration. He previously worked with U.S. rapper Rick Ross on the track Dangerous II, with the music video filmed in Cape Town during Ross’s visit to South Africa, helping to broaden Usimamane’s global reach.

Loe Shimmy, an American rapper from Florida, began releasing music in 2020 and has since delivered multiple projects, including Zuper PowerZ, Z End, Nardy World, and Rockstar Junkie. He is known for tracks such as For Me, which charted in the U.S., and was named to the 2025 XXL Freshman Class, recognizing emerging talent in American hip‑hop.

The recent studio clip shows Usimamane, Loe Shimmy, and Mashbeatz working together in person, though no information has been released about the session’s output, title, or release plans. Neither artist has confirmed whether it will result in a single, feature, or other type of release.

This collaboration highlights the growing connection between South African and American hip‑hop artists. With Loe Shimmy currently in the country, fans can expect more direct interactions and potential releases from this transcontinental partnership.
