South African DJ duo TxC is preparing to close out the year with a cross-continental collaboration titled “Nakupenda,” scheduled for release on 12 December. The upcoming track brings together an extensive lineup of artists, uniting voices from the Amapiano, Afrobeats, and street-pop scenes into a single record positioned to resonate across multiple music markets.
The collaboration features Nigerian global star Davido, known for his chart-defining Afrobeats catalog, and fellow Nigerian artist Zlatan, whose energetic delivery and Zanku-driven style have shaped a wide segment of contemporary street music. Also joining the track are South Africa’s Scotts Maphuma, recognized for his contributions to Amapiano’s evolving soundscape; rising vocalist Shoday, whose melodic approach has garnered attention within Nigeria’s new-wave scene; and versatile performer Al Xapo, noted for fusing rap-leaning cadences with the rhythmic identity of South African dance music.
The announcement of “Nakupenda” signals another instance of the growing creative exchange between West African and South African artists. Over the past few years, collaborative projects across the two regions have contributed to the global rise of Amapiano and its integration with Afrobeats. Txc’s decision to merge an ensemble of artists from both countries continues that tradition, aligning with a broader trend of genre fusion and cross-market experimentation.
Davido’s melodic structure, Zlatan’s percussive vocal patterns, and Shoday’s softer delivery may provide contrast against Scotts Maphuma’s Amapiano-rooted elements and Al Xapo’s rhythmic phrasing. TxC, known for their club-driven sound, are expected to anchor the track with dance-floor intensity while balancing the varied contributions from the collective lineup.
With a release date set for mid-December, “Nakupenda” arrives during a peak period for new music across Africa, as artists commonly use the festive season to launch projects aimed at high-energy events and year-end rotations. The collaboration’s scale and timing position it for significant attention within music circles, particularly among listeners who follow cross-regional collaborations and genre-blending records.
As anticipation builds, “Nakupenda” stands out as a multi-artist release that reflects the current moment in African music culture where shared creative spaces continue to expand and where artists increasingly approach music-making through collaborative, border-transcending efforts.
