Touchline recently appeared on The Element Podcast with Queen Azizzar, giving fans an inside look at how his hit single Inkuzi from the Mambisa Golden Boy featuring Mnqobi Yazo and Kwesta came together. The conversation offered a glimpse into the creative process behind the track and the energy that sparked the collaboration.

When Queen Azizzar asked Touchline how the song came about and what made it special, he started with a lighthearted comment, saying, “Inkuzi is such a dope song, don’t you think? And so effortless.” He then shared how he and Mnqobi Yazo were in the studio working on a three-step track when inspiration struck. As Mnqobi was preparing to leave, Touchline played a beat produced by Kazabeats. “It was like he was walking out the door, and he was like, ‘hai nkabi yami, awuyidlale lento leyo futhi,’” Touchline recalled. That spontaneous moment would become the seed of Inkuzi.

He then described how the second part of the chorus came together organically. “I was already writing for him, and when he did that offbeat thing, I thought, okay, cool, he laces it,” he recalled. Remarkably, the initial part of the collaboration didn’t take long at all. “I promise you it wasn’t more than 15 or 20 minutes, and he was out,” Touchline said. Mnqobi Yazo left with encouraging words, saying, “Sa duma sibancane Touchline.”

The energy and optimism in that brief encounter left a lasting impression. “You know that’s the energy we need,” Touchline reflected. He explained how such enthusiasm became contagious, making the creative process feel alive and exciting.

Right after that encounter played out, he then moved on to his verse, which he recorded separately and shared that the following day, Kwesta added his contribution. Each artist brought their own unique element, blending effortlessly into the track. The collaboration, from start to finish, came together naturally, fueled by genuine excitement and mutual respect among the artists.

Touchline being a rising figure in South Africa’s music scene, has steadily built a reputation for blending heartfelt lyrics with captivating rhythms. Inkuzi reflects not only his creative instincts but also the natural chemistry he shares with Mnqobi Yazo and Kwesta. Through his conversation on The Element Podcast, listeners were offered a window into the spontaneous, yet intentional in a way that the track came to life. The collaboration demonstrates the power of shared energy, timing and the magic that can happen when artists connect at the right moment.
