Tony Dayimane has shared new insight into his forthcoming EP, Girls & MP3’s, scheduled for release on 13 February. The project is described by the artist as his most personal body of work to date, offering listeners a structured reflection of his recent experiences with relationships, self-accountability, and personal growth.
In a statement released ahead of the EP, Dayimane explained the conceptual framework behind the project, noting that it documents a sequence rather than a single narrative. “This is how relationships go while the last part some people never ever do,” he wrote, pointing to the progression and emotional stages captured throughout the EP. According to the artist, the songs are not intended to represent one individual, but rather a pattern of experiences arranged in a deliberate order.
Dayimane clarified this further by stating, “It’s not necessarily a fact that I am talking about different girls of which I am but the order in which it happens.” He added that the sequencing of the music creates the impression of a singular story, even though it reflects interactions with different people over time. This approach allows the project to function as a continuous emotional timeline rather than isolated moments.
Accountability is a central theme in Girls & MP3’s. Dayimane addressed this directly, writing, “Holding myself accountable while I am at it,” emphasizing that the project reflects personal responsibility rather than external blame. He explained that the material was drawn from real-life experiences over an extended period, stating that it represents “exactly which is what I went through in the last 9/10 months with entirely different people til present.”
The EP also marks a point of self-reflection and clarity for the artist. Dayimane noted that the process of creating the project coincided with a period of rediscovery, concluding with what he described as finding himself. This sense of resolution is positioned as a key element of the EP’s closing moments.
Describing the level of openness contained in the music, Dayimane stated, “This is the closest that people might ever get to my love affairs.” He emphasized the sincerity of the work, adding, “I mean everything I said when I wrote it.” The artist closed his statement by reinforcing the personal boundaries guiding the project, writing, “My heart & peace first.”
With Girls & MP3’s set to release on 13 February, the EP is positioned as a chronological and introspective account of Tony Dayimane’s recent personal journey, presented through music without embellishment or fictionalization.
