Shane Eagle’s new album NEVER MEET YOUR HEROES has reignited the “Big 3” debate in South African Hip-Hop, largely because of the track “Charizard” where Shane seems to bring that Kendrick “Like That” “big me” energy.
This happens in a year when all three rappers often grouped in the conversation — A-Reece, Nasty C and Shane Eagle — all have projects out this year: A-Reece’s BUSINESS AS USUAL EP, Nasty C’s FREE and Shane’s newly-dropped NEVER MEET YOUR HEROES. The TL was already tense after A-Reece and Nasty dropped in the same week.
With the triangle complete, fans returned to the “big 3” debate. Some argue that Blxckie, 25K, Emtee and other rappers deserve tone part of the “big 3” more than others. Isn’t that how it always goes?
