South African artist Tyla’s global hit “Water” has been ranked 135th on Rolling Stone’s list of The 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far. Originally launched in July 2023, the song gained international traction through a viral TikTok dance challenge and went on to peak at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Tyla became the first South African soloist to reach the chart’s top 10 since 1968. “Water” also won the inaugural Grammy for Best African Music Performance in 2024, marking a major milestone in Tyla’s rapidly growing career.
