Stogie T On Not Telling Nasty C and A-Reece About Their Feature on His Upcoming Song “Four Horseman”

In a recent interview with YFM, Stogie T discussed the creative process behind his upcoming track Four Horseman, which features Nasty C, A-Reece, and Maggz. The rapper detailed how the collaboration came together and why he chose not to inform Nasty C and A-Reece that they would be appearing on the same song during the early stages of recording.

Speaking on his approach, Stogie T explained that he intentionally kept the involvement of each artist confidential until he received their contributions. “I did not tell Nasty C A-Reece is on it, I did not tell A-Reece Nasty is on it before I got anything because I’m like let’s find out if it’s even worth the song,” he said.

Stogie T added that once the verses came in, he felt confident about the direction of the song. “So when Nasty sent his thing and Reece sent his thing, I was like I think we have something,” he explained. According to him, the strength of their individual contributions made the collaboration worth pursuing as a unified track.

He also addressed the importance of transparency once the features were secured. Stogie T stated, “It’s sly and sneaky if I put it out without anyone knowing. If I tell them and they say no, I respect their wishes and say alright I tried.” He noted that both artists eventually approved the collaboration, which affirmed the significance of the moment. “The fact that they said yes vindicates the cultural moment, they as well realised this is cool,” he said.

Reflecting on how he envisioned the track, Stogie T explained that the idea developed naturally through his existing relationships with the artists. “I knew I wanted to do this joint with Nasty on my album,” he shared. Around the same period, he had worked with A-Reece on the rapper’s mixtape and was encouraged by how well that collaboration turned out. “I had collaborated recently at the time with A-Reece on his mixtape. I’d done a verse for him and it went so well. I was like that was so much fun, I wonder if cause I’m in your world, I wonder if you’re in my world,” he said.

He continued by outlining how he approached each artist with material that suited their strengths. “So I didn’t know what to send him, so I did send Nasty this joint and with him it’s always like hookovers. And with Reece, I wanted those things, the things that slimes know, so with him I was like here’s a joint, bro.”

Four Horseman is expected to highlight a notable moment of collaboration between some of South Africa’s most prominent hip-hop figures.
