Nasty C recently delivered a live performance of his tracks “Soft” and “Leftie” on Glitch Africa’s YouTube platform, offering fans a preview of two standout singles from his latest album, FREE. Both tracks were released prior to the full album drop and have gained significant attention in the lead-up to the project’s release.

During a sit-down with the platform, Nasty C also spoke about the creative process and inspiration behind each one.

Speaking on “Soft”, which features fellow Durban artist Usimamane, the rapper explained the motivation behind the track:

“So the inspiration behind ‘Soft’ was obviously being a person that works hard, hustles every day trying to accumulate enough wealth to be able to live a soft life at the end of it all,” he said.

The song is a melodic, reflective piece centered around ambition, hard work, and the pursuit of a more comfortable life. It sets a tone of resilience and determination, aligning with many of the broader themes found throughout FREE.

In contrast, “Leftie”, which features fellow rapper Blxckie, was created in a more relaxed and spontaneous setting. Nasty C described the process behind the song as largely unstructured:

“And then ‘Leftie’ was really just like a vibey session. The way the song was made was kind of just freestyling until it all came together, so I wouldn’t say that there was a heavy thought behind it but definitely had a lot of fun making it for sure,” he said.

“Leftie” brings a more playful and energetic atmosphere, driven by catchy flows and rhythmic bounce. The collaboration with Blxckie adds additional dynamic layers to the track, giving it strong replay value.

Both performances on Glitch Africa showcased Nasty C’s ability to balance lyrical depth with engaging production. The live renditions gave fans a raw, unfiltered experience of the music, while his commentary offered insight into the distinct creative approaches he takes with different songs.

FREE, Nasty C’s latest studio album, features a variety of sonic styles and guest appearances, with “Soft” and “Leftie” standing out as early fan favorites. These performances reinforced the significance of both songs in the album’s narrative, highlighting Nasty C’s skillful balance between introspection and energetic expression.
