Cassper Nyovest recently shared his thoughts on AI-generated music following an experience that changed how he views the technology. The rapper revealed that he had been listening to “Suka!” by Rea Gopane, a track he believed featured a new vocalist. He said he liked the song and assumed it was performed by an emerging artist, only to later discover that the vocals were created using artificial intelligence.
The discovery prompted him to reflect on the broader impact of AI in music. Speaking on the issue, Nyovest said, “Yeah, I see the dangers of it now. I don’t think it’s a threat to people who are established like me.” He explained that his concern was not centered on artists who already have a strong presence in the industry.
Nyovest referenced his recent releases, noting that he does not believe artificial intelligence could easily replicate the creative process behind his current work. From his perspective, certain elements that shape hit records remain difficult for technology to reproduce.
However, he expressed concern for artists who are still trying to enter the industry. “I really see it becoming a problem for up-and-coming and new artists tryna break it into the market because if it can make music like that consistently, that’s a problem,” he said, referring back to the “Suka!” track that initially caught his attention.
He further shared his view on what could be driving the rise of AI-generated music. “I think AI music might be powered by record labels that don’t want to pay artists and deal with artists anymore, that might be their angle,” Nyovest added.
His comments highlight ongoing discussions around the role of artificial intelligence in music creation, particularly its potential impact on new talent and the structure of the music industry.
