In a recent episode of The Element Podcast on YouTube, South African rapper Ginger Trill shared personal insights and reflections on his creative relationship with Touchline, also known by his real name, Thabo Mahlwele. The conversation gave listeners an inside look into the dynamic between the two artists and the personal admiration Trill holds for his counterpart.

“Thabo is my twin, we’re the same guy on opposite sides of the same coin type thing,” Ginger Trill said early in the discussion. The statement highlighted the close bond and mutual understanding between the two artists. “I’m tryna rap like Thabo, I’m tryna be like Thabo, he’s younger than me, he is the type of guy you take to your parents,” he continued.

Ginger Trill repeatedly emphasized Touchline’s character, pointing out that although they both share similar traits, Thabo consistently demonstrates a heightened level of discipline and humility. “We are all disciplined but Thabo is disciplined more, we all have good manners but Thabo has more manners, we are all clean but Thabo is cleaner, we don’t take ourselves too seriously but Thabo really doesn’t take himself seriously,” Trill explained. “He takes things seriously but doesn’t take himself too seriously.”

The portrait painted of Touchline extended beyond artistic talent. Trill described him as someone who naturally puts others first. “He is always looking out for everybody else, Thabo comes last and everybody else comes first,” he said, speaking to the rapper’s selflessness and team-first mentality.

Ginger Trill also spoke about the influence Touchline has had on him, both creatively and personally. “He taught me how to push myself, I mean I wanna say I’ve always known how to push myself but with him, it comes from such an honest place,” he said. This sense of authenticity, according to Trill, makes a significant impact on the people around him.

As the discussion progressed, Trill offered insight into the inner workings of the creative circle that Touchline leads. “It makes it fun being around a group of creatives and that’s their leader, that’s the person they trust to steer the sheep,” he said. “And then it makes sense why everything works out so well, why it’s such a smooth-running well-oiled engine and you learn a lot from just like how they coordinate things.”

Through his words, Ginger Trill not only highlighted Touchline’s artistic influence but also his leadership, discipline, and humanity within a competitive industry.
