Phila Dlozi Unveils New Single 'Ikhandlela'

Afro-pop sensation Phila Dlozi is set to release his eagerly awaited single, 'Ikhandlela,' this Easter season. Following the success of his previous hit, 'Babekazi,' which was warmly embraced by fans, Phila's latest offering promises to be equally captivating.

Phila shares that the inspiration behind 'Ikhandlela' stems from the challenging times many people face daily. 

"We all experience moments of feeling lost or hopeless and need a guiding light to help us through the darkness. Sometimes, we pray without knowing who to address, forgetting to speak directly to God, the creator of all," he explains.

Remarkably, the recording of 'Ikhandlela' took less than 20 minutes. Phila had been performing the song for nearly three years, and when it came time to record, it flowed effortlessly. 

"What sets 'Ikhandlela' apart from my other songs is that it's not just a song; it's a deep prayer. Those who follow me on social media or attend my shows have known about it for years and have formed a personal connection with it. Every day, since I first posted it, people have been asking for its release, and the demand has only grown louder. I feel the energy from my audience and see many crying whenever I perform it. This consistent reaction is something I haven't experienced with any of my other songs," Phila reveals.

Fans have been using the audio from Phila's videos to pray even before the song was recorded, highlighting its special significance. 

"You should check out the comments on my TikTok. People have been using the audio to pray, which speaks volumes about the song's impact," he adds.

Musically, Phila opted for a minimalist approach, featuring just his voice and the guitar played by his partner in magic, Songqongqo Khumalo. 

"I wanted the song to be felt deeply, and this is the best way I know how. Our musical connection produces beautiful music that resonates with people," Phila says.
