MÖRDA Ascends With Asante III: A Sonic Ritual of Power, Praise & Dance

By @AtlehangMoloi on 04/02/2025 in Projects You Should Hear

For MÖRDA, music is more than rhythm—it’s a form of spiritual resistance, a coded message for joy, and a blueprint for freedom.

On Asante III, his third solo offering under this bold creative alias, the producer once known as one-half of Black Motion cracks open the vault of his soul and invites the world into a ritual of sound.

Asante III is a fearless continuation of a sonic journey that began with Asante I and Asante II. If those earlier projects were an introduction and a deepening, then this is the spiritual climax: a collection that blends tough street energy with atmospheric African melodies, gospel vocals, and immersive three-step grooves.

The focus single Glory—a triumphant collaboration with powerhouse vocalists Nomfundo Moh and Nontokozo Mkhize—is both a celebration and a prayer. Built on pulsing basslines, haunting melodies, and soaring harmonies, the track evokes the feeling of sunrise after a long night: it’s healing, it’s defiant, and it’s unmistakably South African. “I knew their voices would bring something special to the sound,” MÖRDA reflects. “They added the emotion and power I needed to turn this beat into something divine.”

Asante III is rich with collaborations that serve the greater mission. From the introspective ‘Home’ with Brenden Praise and Artwork Sounds, to the militant drums of ‘The Massacre’ with Nqo, each track is a meditation on identity, spirituality, and joy. MÖRDA’s own fingerprints are all over the project—he produced the album from his own studio with a tightly knit group of co-creators including Thakzin, Dr Moruti, Suffocate SA, and more.

What sets this album apart isn’t just its technical mastery or genre fusion—it’s the intention.

“I want this music to bring peace and joy. I want people to dance, to feel free,” says MÖRDA. “This album is for the people. It’s for the streets. It’s for healing.”

Alongside the album, MÖRDA is building Vault by MÖRDA—a live event series set to move his world from the streaming charts to the real world.

“I want to give people a side of MÖRDA they’ve never seen before,” he says. “This is just the beginning.”

For MÖRDA, the journey continues—but the message is clear: this is glory. This is greatness. This is African excellence in motion.
