Nyovest mentioned the song when breaking down how his perseverance led him to success in an interview on Gagasi FM. “You just gotta keep striking,” he said. “You can never hit the target if you don’t strike. For me, I just kept on hitting.”
Nyovest mentioned he tried different sounds before landing on his breakout hit ‘Doc Shebeleza’ released in 2014.
“At some point, I was doing [Afrobeats] before it was even popular here because I believed it was the next sound in Africa and it didn’t work for me. There’s a song called ‘Wahala’ that’s online that it put out.”
Around the same time, Nyovest was even experimenting with some R&B-Rap when he dropped ‘BMK’, one of his most underrated song. On Showlove Music and Motif Records’ compilation album ‘The All Love Album’, he contributed the Kwaito-leaning ‘Plani’. Nyovest paid his dues.
