JiK’iZiNTO: Dee Koala On Her Empowering Collaborative Single ‘Iskhath’ Sam Manje’ Featuring KMAT & Boohle

Cape Town-bred rapper, Dee Koala who stars in an exciting new web series, ‘JiK’iZiNTO’ has teamed up with endowed DJ, KMAT and Amapiano vocal powerhouse, Boohle for a powerful new single titled ‘Iskhath’ Sam Manje’. The song title translates to “It’s my time now”.

The three powerhouses got together to create this anthem for the ‘JiK’iZiNTO’ campaign, a new movement representing a generation determined to rewrite their future and overcome the challenges they face today. 

In an interview with Dee Koala, she delved into the new song, being a part of the ‘JiK’iZiNTO’ web series and more. 

⁠Tell us about your new single ‘Iskhath’ Sam Manje’ alongside KMAT & Boohle.

I’m so excited about this song. It screams ‘empowerment’ and motivates one to reach for their dreams. Get up and go!

What is the personal significance behind being a part of the ‘JiK’iZiNTO’ web series?

For me, it’s honestly sharing my personal experience and how I connect with the initiative. I’m glad to give insight into what’s real in my world based on what people thought it was like. 

How does the campaign’s mission statement correspond with your values?

Never giving up is part of the journey. Respecting yourself and putting yourself first, it’s a movement of encouraging yourself to meet your dreams halfway and that’s what I live by. 

As “the next generation of dreamers”, describe the world you visualise as a result of your contributions.

I see a world of young creative directors, and young movie makers making it in the industry, their visions reaching world status. I want the kids of today and tomorrow to know that there is a place for them and they can do it. 

You have always proudly expressed who you are and where you come from through your music. Describe the importance of “expressing yourself unapologetically” and remaining authentic to who you are.

I’d like to think everyone would like to be loved and respected for who they exactly are. I’m human I do human-like things and it’s okay. I can’t put pressure on myself for work and still put pressure on to being the best personality for whoever. I’m happy with myself. 

What excites you the most about this web series? 

People getting to know me, my creativity, and my journey.
