Robin Thirdfloor and Dejot have dropped a new collaborative project titled ‘Ukuvaleka’.
‘Ukuvaleka’ means "closed in” in Robin Thirdfloor's native language isiZulu, and it is with this project that Robin takes us on a journey of his mindstate during the pandemic and his thoughts as a young man realizing the responsibilities that come with his age.
This is not the first time Robin has dived this deep, if you have been a fan of his music you would know that his themes are quite introspective themes and this project is no different.
The pandemic was not the easiest time for Robin and you get to hear about the pressures he faces on the songs, tackling issues such as finances, relationships, and identity.
Long-time collaborator and Swiss artist/producer Dejot, provides the perfect musical backdrop, infusing the project with a distinctive sonic identity that complements Robin's narrative and his guest features Supah Mpondo and Mx Blouse.
The project is supported by Prohelvetia Johannesburg (The Swiss Arts Council) as part of their Confluences programme.
