Spotify is currently rolling out their ‘A Decade of Amapiano ’ campaign which looks at the popular genre’s first decade. Yes, decade… perhaps, if you didn’t realise Amapiano has been around since around 2014, then ‘A Decade of Amapiano’, a site looking at the past decade of Amapiano and its different key influences, will clarify any confusion.
The site is complemented by an on-platform Amapiano destination with playlists and podcasts for anyone wishing to learn more about the genre’s origins, sounds, and future.
In 2023, Amapiano hit over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify.
‘A Decade of Amapiano’ launched on 14 June, two days before Youth Day.
The project also comes with insightful statistics that show who the biggest songs and artists are and the markets that are tapping in.
