Mark Akol & Sipho The Gift Drop Joint Album ‘The Heist’

By @Okayswisher on 04/05/2024 in Projects You Should Hear

Following their two previous drops that featured Pretoria based artists Tyson Sybateli on Apex & beautiful Phiwo on Fubu, the Cape Town rappers has graced us with an extended play made up of ten songs.

Seasoned artist Sipho The Gift pairs up with his close friend, producer Mark Akol on The Heist with emphasis on bars, hard hitting drums & elements of love and care where Rhea Blek & Phiwo shine upon. The depth of the tape is impressive with vernac also implemented on the track ‘Masbone’ featuring Ewiva! Track 3 ‘Big Dawg’ is Sipho having fun with his talents where he mentions that he’s overwhelmed by all the Godly blessings he gets.

The middle of the EP track 5 ‘Black History’ & track 6 ‘Black Blood’ are two songs under 2 minutes that feel like one song the way the transition is smooth. Flow Jones & Laliboi conclude the EP in terms of features on the last two songs where the former delivers a masterclass of a verse and Laliboi wrapping up what is a strong, conscious, tape.

Mark Akol & Sipho The Gift have previously worked together on songs like ‘Kate’. Their new work on the tape is refined and refreshed
