East-Rand-born producer, Stixx pays ode to not only Kwaito but one of the genre’s pioneering acts, the late Brown Dash with his latest release, ‘VumVum (Stixx Remix)’.
The single which features M’Du and Brickz, was initially released in 2004 and now, two decades later, Stixx has given it a modern retouch.
Originally released at the turn of the new millennium, ‘VumVum’ became the anthem of a generation and went on to top charts across the country. While Brown Dash was establishing himself as a household name, youngsters across the country were watching and taking notes, hoping to emulate his success one day.
Fast-forward to 2024 and Stixx has emerged as one of the prodigies of Brown Dash’s legacy, and he’s proven it again with the release of VumVum the remix. Not only has he given it a more modern treatment, but Stixx has ensured that the remix pays enough respect to the original by enlisting the production skills of M’Du (who was featured on the original) to bring the remix to life.
