Stream Rising Hip-Hop Artist Novl.’s New EP ‘Costly Sacrifice$ (C&R Prelude)’

On Friday, Novl. released his new 5-track EP titled 'Costly Sacrifice$ (C&R Prelude)’. 

‘Costly Sacrifice$ (C&R Prelude)’, as the bracketed part of the title suggests, is a prelude to a mixtape. 

'Costly Sacrifice$ (C&R Prelude)’ consists of solid rapping from Novl. over mostly boom bap production. The title track sees Novl. and Pretoria rapper Wordz go off over a drumless sample loop. “Took a page from the hustlers and added my own notes,” he raps before Wordz takes over. 

In the EP, Novl. tackles topics like the game, his rise and his personal life with impressive wordplay, storytelling and solid delivery. 

The project’s artwork, which is a close-up of a mouth full of gold photographed by Katlego Montagane, was designed by Gerard Addison. 

Novl. has been hard at work since the late 2010s with a string of projects, singles and some features. 'Costly Sacrifice$ (C&R Prelude)' follows Novl.'s recent collaboration with Tyson Sybateli tagged,  'SEARCHING', as well as his 2022 projects 'dragonballz,' 'H M B, L M R,' and 'OH SWEET BLACK CHILD.'

As Novl. said to The Book Club (his fanbase), the mixtape is coming soon.
