‘Seeping’, an extended play by Johannesburg-based multi- instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and self-produced artist, Crunchy Sweater is a heavily dub-inspired take on a shoe-gaze project.
Which is a sub-genre of Indie and Alternative rock characterised by its ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume.
This follows his latest single release ‘Feel Low’ that he dropped later in July.
The 5-track tape takes us on a seemingly drug-induced deep-dive into the lustful underbelly of love and self-fulfilment therein. “Where I end and we begin.”
‘Seeping’ places the listener in the position of the journal and the partner; a laid-back confessional speaking to devotion, lust, infatuation and dissolution.
The project demonstrates Crunchy’s love of world play, catchy hooks and haunting guitar melodies fit for an incubus. Crunchy self-produced the tape before shipping it to Zain Valley for mixing and mastering.
