A Deluxe Version Of AKA’s 'Mass Country’ Is On The Way

Yesterday, July 27, marked a very special day to both family and friends of AKA who came out to celebrate the life and success of the late Kiernan Forbes. 

Vth Season hosted a brunch at the Artistry in Sandton in celebration of his album, ‘Mass Country’’s successes. Present were the likes of DJ Zinhle, Nadia Nakai, the Vth Season team as well as AKA’s parents Lynn and Tony Forbes. 

In June 2023, 'Mass Country' achieved platinum certification and received a platinum plaque presented to the Forbes family and Vth Season by Sony Music Entertainment Africa during the brunch. 

But that's not all. In keeping with the legacy of the Supa Mega, AKA's team has exciting plans in store to further promote his music. Upcoming activities include the release of an official music video for 'Sponono' in Spring and a deluxe version of ‘Mass Country'.

“You know Kiernan in studio, he brought a whole bunch of songs and we can’t release everything at once, so he left us some serious magic and we’re very excited later on in the year to have the ‘Mass Country Deluxe’ coming out,” said Label Manager at Sony Music Africa, Caroline Morabe.

AKA’ parents, Lynn and Tony Forbes also shared some words of gratitude to the Megacy and the world at large for the continuous support for their late son, whose music continues to live on after he has passed. 

“I want to end off by saying, and I will always say this, we would never have a platinum album if it wasn’t for the Megacy so I will always be the Megacy’s fan,” Lyn Forbes said. 

‘Mass Country’ as a full project remains testament to the South African Hip-Hop pioneer’s talent and impact on the music industry and on the hearts of his fans.
