‘2 Partz’ is Yourz Trully’s 2-track EP that is set to drop exploring both sides of the coin.
Yourz Trully is a rising singer-songwriter from Randfontein, whose sound is a combination of RnB/Trap soul with a touch of Afro pop. Which is what we can expect in her forthcoming project ‘2 Partz’.
When asked about the the album, this is what Yourz Trully had to say: “Often times we're taught that our power lies in hiding all the ugliness away. Presenting ourselves as overly strong and fierce humans that have it all together and never tire. But what happens on days when we don't feel like forces to be reckoned with? Do we suddenly get labelled powerless? I don't think so, because it's in such days where we meet our true power, vulnerability. Wearing our hearts on our sleeves and embracing that power that lies on our vulnerable side. A side that the world teaches us to hide because it's not so appealing to the human eye.”
Yourz Trully gives us ‘Abantu’ and ‘Okwami’ in the EP. ‘Abantu’ is about people that come and take from us until we perish, kick us when we're down no matter how hard we cry and scream for them to stop. Regardless of how broken we are in such vulnerable states, we ought to be honest with ourselves. How we feel and what we're exposed to. Not only does this help us heal, but it births the ability to undeniably recognise the power that lies within us even when we're vulnerable.
It activates the urge to rise above it all and claim back what has been taken away from us. This is the point of our lives where our vulnerability meets our power to help us get back on our feet. Stepping up without fear or shame to take back what belongs to us.
‘Okwami’ means mine and the power that lies in knowing that what's yours belongs to nobody else but YOU.
